Potential sponsors must first submit the completed Interest to Sponsor form online once it is available under Canada’s Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) expression of interest system.
After acceptance to the interest form, the candidates receive an INVITATION to submit an application to sponsor. They have to apply along with the supporting documents (such as taxation records, civil status, and other material facts) and the processing fees before the deadline.
After receiving the invitation to apply, the candidate has to complete the application form and other formality documents. All the supporting documents need to be submitted. IRCC verifies the biometrics fee, medical proofs, and certain other documents of the sponsored person during the application process.
If any information is found malicious or absent, the application could be refused by IRCC. The application must be submitted completely, supported by documents, and honest. PGP applications are processed within 20 to 24 months.
The Canadian government has accepted 27,000 forms of Interest under this category in a brief period in 2019. This interest form is not an application form but is an expression of interest. IRCC verifies the personal information and contact details of the Canadians and their family members they wish to sponsor.
The Interest to sponsor form, along with the following information is required to be submitted by the Canadians or permanent residents willing to sponsor their elders under this category.
