Financial Ability

There are certain financial requirements to be met by the applicants under Family Class Sponsorship in all the Canadian provinces, except Quebec.

The level of income varies on the basis of family size. The sponsor needs to give written proof that his income meets the minimum necessary income (or LOW-INCOME CUT-OFF – LCIO), as established by Statistics Canada.

However, he is freed from this condition if-

The sponsor is found to be financially sufficient when the following funds are deducted from the amount indicated on line 150 of their most recent Notice of Assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

In case, the sponsor is not able to give proofs of monetary sufficiency for the basic needs of the sponsored person, the spouse of the sponsor may co-sign the attestation if -

Family Class Sponsorship for those Residing in Quebec

A Canadian residing in the province of Quebec needs to show proof of a steady income that is above the low-income cut-off over one year. However, just like other provinces, he/she is freed from this condition if the sponsored person is his/her spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or a dependent child.
