Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship

There are two streams through which Canadian citizens and permanent residents may bring their parents and grandparents to Canada: the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) and/or the Super Visa program.

PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM (PGP)

The Canadian government, under its Family Class sponsorship program, approves immigration of parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. These immigrant fellows can further apply for Canadian citizenship as well.

Parents and Grandparents Super Visa Program

Another option to bring your parent and/or grandparent to Canada is the Super Visa program. The standard visa allows a visitor to stay in Canada for up to 2 years. Whereas, the visitor entering through the Super Visa program are allowed for a long-term stay up to 10 years.
