Dependent Child Sponsorship

Family Class Immigration- reuniting your loved ones

The government of Canada aims to keep the families of their residents together whenever possible. This is why the family class applications are placed at the highest priority in Canadian Visa offices. These family class applications include the immigration of dependent children, parents and grandparents, spouse, common-law, and conjugal partners. The immigration is sponsored by Canadian citizens and permanent residents to bring in their relatives.

The individuals coming to Canada as a temporary worker or permanent residents have rights to bring their dependents too, in most circumstances. However, if they cannot bring them at the time of immigration, the family class schemes for immigration facilitate the entry of their loved ones.

The Dependent Child Sponsorship Program

The child sponsorship program is a sub-section of the family class pathway which allow Canadian parents to sponsor the immigration of their dependent children, both natural and adopted,..

The approval of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for both the sponsor and the sponsored child is a must in order to receive a Visa under this program.
The sponsor and sponsored child will be needed to prove their relationships. In case, if the adoption proceedings are in the final phases, they can also be sponsored before the adoption has been finalized.

Both the sponsor and sponsored child need to fulfill the specific and general requirements in order to be eligible under this program.

After Sponsorship

Permanent residence is awarded to the sponsored child under this class of immigration, inclusive of study and work rights in Canada.
