Once you have chosen your desired study program in a designated institution, you will need to get admission into it by obtaining a letter of acceptance. However, the admission criteria and procedures vary among different institutions across Canada.

STEP 3: APPLICATION FOR A CANADIAN STUDY PERMIT

Once admitted into a Canadian institution, you may apply for a Canadian study permit. It is issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and allows a foreign national to study for a designated period of time. The permit is approved by the Canadian visa officer on the grounds that the applicant has enough funds to pay his/her tuition fees and afford living expenses.

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is required by candidates from certain countries.

STEP 4: COMPLETE YOUR STUDIES AND OBTAIN AN OPEN WORK PERMIT

The open work permit is not only a gateway to permanent residence but also helps in maintaining status in the professional sphere. Obtaining an open work permit is easier in Canada than in other countries.

The open work permit is issued for a duration equivalent to the study program. Say, if the student was enrolled in a two-year course, the permit would be issued for two years only. This permit allows the bearer to work for any employer in Canada after the completion of the study program.

STEP 5. PERMANENT RESIDENCE In CANADA

Candidates who have obtained a degree or diploma from Canadian institutes may apply to federal and provincial programs like Express entry pool system, provincial nominee programs, etc. to get a permanent residence. If the applicant has prior job experience, priority will be given.

Even if you were denied immigration earlier, there is always a chance to immigrate as the Canadian government has provided numerous pathways for it. These pathways only demand the eligibility conditions to be satisfied to apply for them.
