CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS IMMIGRATION PROGRAM

Canada's foreign workers who wish to become permanent residents can apply through this Canadian Experienced Class (CEC) of the immigration category.

Temporary foreign workers who are working for Canadian employers have the upper hand in obtaining a PR. They have desired work experience, adaptability, and networks that facilitate their application for PR in this category.
These workers also have to apply to Express Entry Pool and follow the same rules to make a profile. The procedure of selection is also the same.

CEC requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements. They must:

Skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada for one year, at least within 36 months of the application
Note – Work experience gained during self-employment or full-time studies would not be considered under this category.

Satisfy the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 (“initial intermediate”) or 7 (“adequate intermediate proficiency”) in English or French

Plan to live and work outside of the province of Quebec (for Quebec, candidates have to apply to Quebec experience class)

Applicants can stay in Canada throughout the process. However, if a candidate is not in Canada, but have worked in Canada within 3 years when he has submitted the application, he would be eligible too.

Note: Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (for example, on a co-op work term) does not count under this program.

A Popular Option for International Students

After completing a program at a Canadian institution, the international students obtain work permits and stay in the country to work here for a Canadian employer. If this experience is of one year in a skilled or professional field, it can make the candidate eligible to apply for a PR under this class of immigration.
