Minimum Necessary Income for Family Sponsorship

The level of income varies on the basis of family size. The sponsor needs to give written proof that his income meets the minimum necessary income (or LOW-INCOME CUT-OFF- LCIO), as established by Statistics Canada.
This cut off depends on the following factors-

Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship

This category of family class sponsorship requires written consent from the sponsors that they are ready to bear the financial responsibilities of their elderly members. For the proof, they are required to submit documents supporting the fact that their income has exceeded the MNI for three consecutive taxation years. The notice of assessment from CRA for the last three taxation years must be provided by the sponsor. If they do not have the notice from the previous year, the notices from earlier years can be applied.

However, this condition is not for the residents of Quebec. The minimum necessary income is given below in the table. It includes the low-income cut-off, and 30% added.
