Atlantic High Skilled Program (AHSP)

The Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP) originated as a new Canadian immigration venture in 2017 under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP).

Eligible foreign workers under this program, having a job offer from an employer in Atlantic Canada can apply for the PR. IRCC aims to verify and approve a minimum of 80 per cent of the application within six months from the date of application.

The Job Offer

It must be demonstrated by the applicants that their job offer is-

from a designated employer in any of the four Atlantic provinces
for full-time employment for at least one year and is not seasonal
for a skilled occupation (skill type 0, A or, B of the National Occupational Classification [NOC])
supported by a certificate of endorsement from the province indicating the genuineness of the job offer and all the formalities, including the settlement plan of the candidate, has been assessed.

Settlement funds

Below is the minimum required settlement funds for different family sizes. The funds must be demonstrated as their own by the candidate if they are not working in Canada under a valid work permit. The funds should not be borrowed.

This work experience of a candidate must be:

Of full time, non-continuous or part-time for at least one year with at least 30 hours per week, within last 36 months
paid (i.e. volunteer work, unpaid internships, self-employment do not count)
in a skilled occupation (NOC 0, A, or B)

Applicants must have performed the activities and duties listed in the lead statement of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) description
While living in Canada, Canadian work experience must have been obtained.
Work experience attained during a period of study is allowed, provided that the work hours did not exceed the work hours of the study program.

Language Ability

The candidates in the following language tests must prove their fluency at the basic level in either French or English. A minimum of CLB 4 is required to be eligible for this program. However, it is just an eligibility requirement and does not provide any incentive to the candidate. These tests must be taken within 2 years before applying.

Education

Applicants to AHSP must have either of the following-

a Canadian secondary or post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate
a completed foreign educational credential assessment, that is not more than five years older

Provincial Endorsement

An endorsement letter is issued by the Atlantic province to certify the selected candidates. Applicants who have been endorsed need to submit a copy of the endorsement letter with their application to IRCC for permanent residence (PR). These endorsement letters are valid for six months from the date of issuance, and no extensions are granted to candidates under pilot programs.
