FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS PROGRAM(FSWP)

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is a pathway for skilled workers to get a permanent Canadian residence. FSWP happens to be the main economic immigration program for the Canada PR.

The first step to acquire a permanent residence in Canada is making an expression of interest by creating an Express Entry Profile. Based on their skills mentioned in the profile, a candidate secures ranking in Express Entry Pool. ITA is issued to the highest rankers in the pool.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience of atleast one year in the last 10 years in a skilled occupation classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A or B
Certified language ability (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French across all abilities
Canadian educational credential (certificate, diploma, or degree) or foreign credential and Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report

Candidates with Federal skilled trades and Canadian experience are also ranked on the basis of CRS.
The candidates must meet the minimum required work, language, and educational qualifications and obtain 67 points put of 100 under the federal skilled worker problem in order to apply for it.

Settlement Funds

The settlement funds are not required for foreign workers who have arranged employment in Canada. Though, if invited to apply, the candidate must prove that he/she can establish him/her well in Canada economically.

Medical Examinations and Admissibility

Medical examination reports are required by IRCC as soon as an ITA is issued to the candidate. The medical result must be valid at the time of their arrival in Canada. Security clearances of the candidate are also required for their admissibility.

Processing Times

IRCC takes six months to review an application. It aims to process the application in six months or less.

Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration

Federal skilled worker program does not include immigration to Quebec. The government of Quebec runs its own immigration system and has separate eligibility criteria. The foreign workers who want to immigrate and work in this province have to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate, Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).
