Global Talent Stream

Through this stream, the skilled workers obtain a work permit within 15 days of applying. The Canadian Global skilled tragedy targets the highly-skilled talent persons.

The temporary foreign worker program of Canada extends to Global Talent Stream. TRV may be applicable for the candidates from certain countries. The Global Talent Stream comprises of two categories.

Category A

The list of designated referral partners for high growth companies is released periodically. These companies hire specialized workers from abroad and fall under Category A. For Quebec; the designated referral partners must be located in this province only.

Category B

In this category, the employers hire skilled workers for the occupation in-demand, found on the list of Global Talent Occupations. They satisfy the labor market needs when there is insufficiency.

Employers in both categories must meet the conditions related to paying a wage to workers. The foreign workers hired through Global Talent stream must be paid at the prevalent or higher wage. The prevailing wage is defined as either of the following-

Labour Market Benefits Plan

The employers hiring skill-workers through this pathway are required to make a Labor Market Benefits Plan in association with ESDC. This plan encourages employers to commit for job creation and skill-trainings in the Canadian labour market, which attracts foreign talents. The complementary activities in this plan extend to training current employees in new techniques, creating paid internship programs for local students, increasing revenue and investments.

The job creation for Canadians and Permanent residents, direct or indirect, is required to be done by the Category A employers.

The investments for the training of Canadians and permanent residents are required to be made by the Category B employers.

If one employer is placed in both the categories, they must commit to anyone activity mentioned above and at least two complementary activities. ESDC ensures that the employers are fulfilling the conditions of the benefits plan.

Work Permit Exemptions

Under two categories of Global Talent Stream, the workers may be exempted from obtaining a work permit.
