Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

Being the center of economic, political, and social life, Ontario is the home to 40 percent Canadians. Ontario immigrant nominee program (OINP) is its provincial nominee program.

The skilled and experienced candidates who have applied for immigration under this stream may get an Ontario provincial nomination certificate. After being certified, they may apply for a Canadian permanent residence.
Applications under the following categories are accepted under OINP.

Human Capital Category

This stream is further divided into two categories:

Ontario Express Entry stream
International graduates stream

Ontario's Express Entry Streams

This stream operates along with the conditions of the federal Express Entry immigration system. An expression of interest is required under this category.

The stream is for the foreign workers or international students who have strong English comprehension abilities and other skills and are able to listen, speak, write and read French and want to reside in the province to work.

The international students who have graduated from the designated institutions and have skills to begin a business and are willing to operate a business in this province may apply through this pathway.

The pathway coincides with the conditions of the Express Entry system, and occasional tech draws are done for the express entry candidates under human capital priorities stream in this OINP.

The skilled trade workers who have submitted their profiles in the Express Entry pool may receive a chance to settle permanently in this province and work under this pathway.

International Graduates Streams

It is further divided into two categories-

This stream allows the students who have acquired a master’s degree from a designated Ontario institution. There is no need to obtain a job offer under this program.

This stream allows the students who have completed their PhD from a designated Ontario institution. There is no need to obtain a job offer under this program.

Employer Job Offer Category

Ontario nominates foreign workers and international students who have an eligible employment offer in the province. At the time of application, it is permissible that candidates may live abroad or in Canada.

This stream enables skilled foreign workers to have a valid job offer to work and settle in the province.

International students who want to settle in Ontario permanently are granted job offers under this stream.

The foreign workers with a job offer in specific occupations like construction and agriculture, which are in-demand, are targeted through this stream.

Business Category

The entrepreneurs who want to settle their business or purchase a business in this province on a temporary work permit may apply for a provincial nomination under this category.

The key staff of the business being operated in the province may apply for the PR under this category. However, this stream is now permanently closed.
