Preparing for Arrival in Canada

Before Departure

Before you depart for Canada, it is advisable to prepare for all the things you may need duly. When the preparation is done correctly, your study and the overall experience becomes flawless. There are many things that you need to consider and keep in mind, so it is better to start preparing well in advance and use the right tools that help you stay organized and prioritize correctly.

Prepare Required Documents

Following documents are necessary, and you may not even board a flight to Canada
You should keep the copies and original of these documents in your carryon luggage. Also having two-three copies is advisable.

Packing

One should take adequate time to pack the essentials before leaving for the destination. You should take the right amount of time to pack all the necessary things before travelling to Canada. Research on the weather and availability of things you need in the time of your stay in the city is also recommended. You should also check the Customs guidelines on what you can carry during travel, including weight allowance. As per customs rules, one should not take more than 10000 Canadian Dollars.

Money Matters

While most Canadian airports will have an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), it is advised that you bring about $100–$200 in cash, in addition to a credit and debit card, for incidental purchases, services, or emergencies after arrival.

Book or plan for an Airport Pickup/Transportation

In major Canadian cities, in addition to taxis and buses, there may also be subways or rail lines that can take you close to your accommodation. However, most schools also offer Airport pickup service that can safely deliver you to your homestay, dormitory, or apartment.
